MS Herb Garden Harvesting
Last spring our current 8th graders planted an herb garden near the preschool playground. Annie (the Chizuk Amuno chef!) has been using the fresh herbs in the kitchen all summer, but this week we brought in our first big “harvest” in advance of the coming cold weather. Students helped pick gallons of fragrant rosemary, basil, lavender, sage, tarragon and thyme, and there is still much more to be harvested. All the Middle School students had an opportunity to admire the bounty of our harvest and smell the various scents, and then the herbs were taken down to the kitchen, where Annie and her staff will dry or freeze them to use in school lunches throughout the year.
