Leaders We Believe In
What makes a good leader? This question was on the minds of KSDS lower schoolers this month as they learned about the candidates running for national, local and school offices. The students learned about positive and negative campaign strategies, studied issues and debates, and participated in an exciting simulation that demonstrated how the popular vote and the electoral college differ. At the national level, the students studied the Republican and Democratic parties and the eligibility requirements for voting and running for office. And at the (very!) local level, the students voted to select the Lower School Student Council Officers for the coming year. In speeches before parents, teachers and classmates, the candidates articulately demonstrated their creative, independent thinking, confidence, integrity and sense of responsibility. With role models like these, both the candidates and the voters won in this election!
