Krieger Schechter Day School Educator Wins the Sam Kahan Distinguished Educator Award/Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education

PIKESVILLE (May 7, 2019) Surrounded by her students, Krieger Schechter Day School educator Sally Grobani was notified today that she has been named the 2019 recipient of the Sam Kahan Distinguished Educator Award/Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education.  This award perpetuates Sam Kahan’s legacy of personal commitment to Jewish education and strengthening Baltimore’s Jewish education institutions, and is presented to a master Jewish educator who serves as an inspiration to both students and peers.  The recipient of this award is also the community’s nominee for the national Grinspoon Award for Excellence in Jewish Education. The award will be officially presented at the CJE annual meeting on Monday, May 20, 2019.

Nominees for the Kahan/Grinspoon Award were evaluated on several criteria:  the ability to develop and implement creative and engaging instructional activities, the willingness to share resources and work collaboratively with others, the ability to inspire, motivate and challenge students, and the ability to well represent Baltimore on the national education scene.

“Sally Grobani lives and breathes the values that are embodied in the mission of Krieger Schechter Day School, and that we seek to transmit to each and every member of our school community and the community at large,” said Wendy Gelber, Krieger Schechter Day School Head of Lower School.  “We are honored to have talented, dedicated educators like Sally Grobani work with our students every day. Sally inspires us to work each day to create a better world through education and leadership.”
