An Important School-Wide Update

March 12, 2020

We are writing to you today to share our immediate plans regarding our schools. As always, we deeply appreciate your understanding and cooperation during a challenging time like this. Our goal is as it always is: to ensure the health and safety of our students and staff. We know that our students-your children-will take their cues from the adults in their midst. If we approach things calmly, chances are that they will as well.

While the amount of confirmed cases in our area is still low, it is increasing rapidly as testing becomes more readily available. It is our obligation to be partners in heeding the calls to work to slow the spread of the disease and give our healthcare system the maximum capacity to deal with the growing needs of their patients. Therefore, we have made the very difficult decision to close as of today, Thursday, March 12, 2020, at 6:00 pm. This decision was reached jointly by our lay, educational and rabbinic leadership on the basis of expert medical advice and in uniformity with the most up to date CDC recommendations.
Our facilities will receive a thorough disinfecting and cleaning over the next week and will remain closed through Sunday, March 22, 2020. We will reassess prior to that date and communicate with you next week.

It is imperative that you keep this information confidential–our children will be informed before the end of the day in an age appropriate manner. Krieger Schechter will send communications tomorrow for each division with instructions and details for online learning which will begin Monday March 16th.
