8th Grade Math – Graphing Technology
8th grade Algebra 2 students are learning and using new technology skills to implement the new graphing concepts. Using the calculator, we plotted 2 points and found the equation of the line that joins them. We can even find the equation of points that do not lie in a straight line. Using one of the calculator programs we find a “line of best fit” for that data. We solved systems of equations graphically too.
Other grades used the graphing calculators to find statistical data. Students used the calculators to make box and whisker graphs. They also used data to find mean, median and mode. At first students did the individual mathematical calculations and then as students gained understanding, the use of the graphing calculator made the work a breeze.
