7th Grade Language Arts
March 4th is National Grammar Day! Our 7th grade will celebrate in their Language Arts classes. Students will demonstrate grammar skills, share food, play grammar games, watch Schoolhouse Rock, and sing “Happy Birthday” to Mrs. Puleo! This day is fun interlude in the 7th grade’s rigorous Language Arts curriculum. Our students have been working hard on various projects. The Millennium Research Paper, which began with a trip to the Enoch Pratt Library in November, is in the final revision stage. A study of The Night Thoreau Spent in Jail has concluded with student-created projects that interpreted the events of the play. And, in To Kill a Mockingbird, students are preparing for the defense of Tom Robinson by Atticus Finch. The students have balanced serious research and expository writing, with creative synthesis and digital production. It has been a busy trimester! Throughout the diverse curriculum, the students have maintained a focus on the theme of non-conformity and mentschlichkeit, or “doing the right thing,” even though the action comes at a personal cost. They have worked hard, and we are very proud of them!
