2nd Graders Enjoy Their Visit to the Aquarium!
After studying about whales and dolphins, second graders had a wonderful time visiting the National Aquarium on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2011. The children loved walking through the “Rainforest” looking for birds and insects in their natural habitat, as they identified the bird with the loudest birdsong and even saw a tarantula. The Australian exhibit also was exciting to walk through. A frog jumped out of an exhibit box. The best part of the day was watching the dolphins do amazing tricks. The children watched carefully to see how the dolphins gracefully moved using their dorsal fins and flukes. When water spouts were seen from the dolphins’ blowholes, the students watched carefully. It was a fantastic day!
