LS Meets a Sofer (Torah Scribe)

Did you ever wonder why the letters in the Torah appear to shine? Just ask one of Krieger Schechter’s Lower School students! After attending a workshop with Rabbi Druin, the sofer who is helping to write Chizuk Amuno Congregation’s new Torah, our Lower School students can answer this question and many, many more. They can tell you all about k’laf (parchment), quills, and the secret recipe for Torah ink. They now have an appreciation for the amount of time it takes a sofer to write a Torah, megillah, t’fillin, and mezzuzah.
