It’s a Small World After All

Our fourth graders recently had the opportunity to learn about the Japanese story-telling format called Kamishibai. A group of 10 fourth graders were elected to be part of our Kamishibai Hebrew enrichment program. Over the course of the school year, these students will meet weekly with Morah Ann Berman during recess and exchange drawings and written Hebrew compositions with students from an elementary school in the Aravah region of Israel (south of the Dead Sea, on the Jordanian border). The students will meet and speak to one another via Skype. As a culminating activity, students in each country will create their own Kamishibai stories and share them via Skype. The students and teachers are excited for the opportunity that technology has provided them to engage with students in Israel, using the language that they have in common, Hebrew!
