Chizuk Amuno and KSDS

In 1980, under the inspired leadership of Rabbi Joel Zaiman, the Board of Directors of Chizuk Amuno Congregation voted to establish Baltimore’s first Conservative Jewish Day School.

The Krieger Schechter Day School of Chizuk Amuno Congregation joined the ranks of some fifty other Schechter schools throughout North America, all dedicated to an excellent academic program, and all promoting Conservative Judaism’s approach to Jewish observance and text study, all stressing Tzedakah – social action and justice – and all fostering a love for Israel and the Hebrew language.

The school is governed by a Board of Directors, comprised primarily of members of Chizuk Amuno Congregation. These members are selected by the President of the congregation in consultation with the rabbis and the headmaster. The ultimate authority regarding school policy rests with the President of the Congregation and his Board.

Chizuk Amuno Congregation, under the current leadership of Rabbi Ron Shulman, has nurtured the school and fostered its growth by providing professional guidance and financial assistance and excellent facilities. Schechter families who do not already belong to another congregation are encouraged to attend services at Chizuk Amuno Congregation and take full advantage of its Shabbat morning family programming, including the Torah for Tots program, Junior Congregation, and Middle School Minyan. Likewise, Chizuk Amuno’s extensive Youth Activities program is open to Schechter youngsters.
